Earlier this year, Zayn Malik left the group. Now PEOPLE is reporting the group have decided on taking a year long hiatus, starting in March of next year, to pursue solo projects.

Taylor Swift’s “1989” tour success just keeps growing.
Yesterday, the singer kicked off the first of her five sold-out shows at Los Angeles’ Staples Center Friday night. During the show she received a surprise from special guest, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant.
Bryant shocked Swift when he revealed a banner honoring her for having 16 sold-out shows at the Staples Center, the most in the venue’s history.
To make things even more spectacular, Swift was also joined by One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder for a duet of “Counting Stars.”
Swift’s second of five shows at the Staples Center takes place Saturday Aug. 22 and in true Taylor Swift concert history, expect more surprises and guest stars to join her on stage.
