Every year the Los Angeles radio station 106.7 KROQ hosts their annual Almost Acoustic Christmas show, bringing the best artists on one stage for two different nights. Although tons of people complained online stating the lineup was “crappy” and “gets worse every year.” I personally liked the lineups and bought tickets for the first night.
The event began with fantastic energy as The Struts were the first band to perform. The crowd danced with there highly fun rock songs.
The only female artist of the evening was Halsey. The singer has been launched to superstardom thanks to her album Badlands and her duet with Justin Bieber. The singers moody songs were a hit with the crowd. Drummer from Twenty One Pilots, Josh Dun, even made an appearance during her set.
Foals were the least memorable performer of the evening. Even though they are incredible musicians. They gave a highly dull performance with no energy and didnt put in effort to hype up the crowd.
X Ambassadors on the other hand knew how to pump up the crowd. They had the entire crowd jumping around to their smash hit “Renegades” among other songs.
Awolnation were one of the most intersting performance of the evening. The bands hardcore alternative music and lighting effects left the audience in shocked.
Silversun Pickups gave a great performance. The band let their music be the stars of the show, not depending on flashy effects.
Bastille had the whole pumped up with their infectious songs filled with fun lyrics and continuous drum beats. The band even teased the crowd with a new single titled “Blame” and mention a new album coming soon.
Cage the Elephant gave a fun performance of all their greatest hits from “Shake Me Down” to their latest tune “Trouble.” Lead singer, Matt Shultz, even attempted his signature crowd surf but the crowd failed miserably to lift him up.
The best performance of the night belonged to duo Twenty One Pilots. They had the whole crowd cheering and screaming as they sang and pulled stunts on stage. The band is definetly good at bring new things to the table like drumming on top of the crowd and singing with red masks on. Definitely an amazing band.
The last band to perform was Weezer.
The band had everyone singing along with their catchy tunes. The band played all their greatest hits and left the crowd wanting more. Definetly the best band to close the night with.
Unfortunately after Weezers set, most of the audience left. Not a lot of people stayed to watch EDM stars Disclosure. But that didnt stop the duo from attempting to make the best situation. Next time, KROQ should book another band instead of an EDM artist who is from a different genre of music.
