Single Review: Young the Giant ‘Something to Believe in’

Second time’s the charm, Young the Giant has a future hit in their hands. The band has released the second single from their upcoming album Home Of The Strange – available August 12th . The single titled “Something to Believe In,” should have been released first, instead of “Amerika”.  The song is filled with a more alternative/contemporary feel. Emphasizing more on drums and guitars.  I love the complexity of the song, its filled with haunting lyrics and choruses that leave you feeling an emotional mess. The song shows how diverse Young the Giant is as a band. They are able to go from bumblegum sweet songs like “My Body ” to more dark and complex music. Overall, I am quite happy with the new single. Young the Giant is changing with time, they are exploring with their sounds. They are now producing more emotional heavy content and I love it.

Thoughts on KROQ Weenie Roast 2016

Its been a long while since I’ve been this excited for a lineup! Yesterday the Los Angeles radio station KROQ announced the lineup for KROQ Weenie Roast 2016.

Surprisingly a lot of amazing high-profiled bands are playing this year. The lineup includes Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Lumineers and Weezer, Panic! At the Disco, Cold War Kids, Fitz and the Tantrums, and the list goes on. Its an incredible lineup with lot of variety. Its refreshing to see iconic rockers like Red Hot Chili Peppers share the stage with artists that I grew up listening to like Panic! At the Disco. This year KROQ did an amazing job picking the bands. Mostly of these artist I would pay to see them separately and to have them all on one stage is the best thing ever.

I just hope I am able to snag a pair of tickets for myself, theirs no doubt this concert will sell out in seconds.

The concert will take place in Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Calif on Saturday, May 14th. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 29th at 12pm via only. Continue reading “Thoughts on KROQ Weenie Roast 2016”

Fresh Music Monday: ‘Evie’ Last Dinosaurs

If you are searching for fun indie music, I definitely recommend the single ‘Evie’ by the Australian band  Last Dinosaurs. The single starts off with catchy guitar riffs that remind me of a mix of Atlas Genius and The Wombats. The tune is a song I could definitely see being aired on the radio. Its a great combination of indie, pop and rock.

Single Review: “Let Me Love You” by Ariana Grande ft. Lil Wayne

After releasing the track-listing for her anticipated third album titled Dangerous Women. Ariana Grande has released the sultry single, ‘Let Me Love You’ featuring Lil Wayne. This song has a more R&B feel than the singles ‘Be Alright’ and ‘Dangerous Women.’

The moody single begins with the words, ” I just broke up with my ex/ Now I’m out here single.”  This single is a more mature tone than her other singles. The song is filled with sexual tone that focuses on Grande’s seductively soft voice.  Even Lil Wayne raps about her more mature and sexy image, “Okay, Ariana my lil mama/ goodbye to the good girl.”

Overall, this song is a nice addition to her upcoming album. Although it is not the strongest single she has released. Its hard to compete with the phenomenal vocal range in the single ‘Dangerous Women.’ The single is a refreshing change from her typical pop sound.

With each release, Ariana is proving that she is one of the best pop artists in the world. Dangerous Women will be released on May 20th.

Fresh Music Monday: “Everything” by Kaptan

Hello everyone, another week is upon us. To get in the rhythm of things, I highly recommend you guys to listen “Everything” by Kaptan.

Sweet and cheerful is a perfect way to describe this song. The song is filled with a fun and motivational chorus “Everything is alright/ Everything’s gonna be/Keep your head up, head up.”Not to mention the singers soft voice goes perfectly with the rhythm and beats of the music.

Single Review: Amerika by Young the Giant

Young the Giant melancholy style is front-and-center in their new single”Amerika.” The first time I listened to the song, I was on the fence on whether I liked it or not. I’m not a huge fan of the extremely mellow tone this song has. Sameer Gadhia strong vocals often over power the music and are the highlight of the song. But the more I listen to the song, the more it grew on me. The emotional lyrics make you feel devastatingly hopeless. The song emphasizes on how someone can lose their way in life to greedy dreams , “I was searching for something as I watched you run/I was sad when you said that you never really wanted some” The song is a great introduction for their upcoming album Home Of The Strange – available August 12th.

Fresh Music Monday:Finish Ticket “Color”

First off, Sorry everyone for the lack of updates and content lately. Its been a hard couple of months juggling school and other stuff. Going to try my hardest to update daily.

Anyways, lately I’ve been obsessed with the song “Color” by Finish Ticket. The band is an American musical group from San Francisco, California. They been in the music scene since 2008. I am completely in love with the lead singers voice and the overall style of their music. Its a fantastic blend of pop, indie and alternative. The beat of this songs are combined perfectly with the lead singers soft rugged voice. With super fun catchy melodies, this song perfect to brighten up anyone’s day.
