After a two year break and a hiatus from social media, Grammy-winning artist Ed Sheeran returned with not one but two new singles for fans.
“Cause I’ve been away for a bit here’s two singles rather than one,” the singer tweeted.
The singles titled “Castle on the Hill” and “Shape of You” are drastically different.
Sheeran’s signature musical style is as strong as ever in the nostalgic single “Castle on the Hill.” The track is described as a “love song for Suffolk”, where Sheeran grew up. The upbeat melody mixed Sheerans voice is utterly perfection. It’s definitely a song, I’ve been hearing on constant repeat.
Originally intended for Rihanna, Sheeran decision to keep “Shape of You” was a great decision. The sensual lyrics and rhythms of “Shape of You” feels like a new side from the singer. It’s filled with hypnotic sound and hymns that’s elevates Sheeran versatility.
Over the years, he has proven to be more than just a guy with a guitar. Sheeran is not afraid to experiment with different music styles.
Sheeran sparked speculation that his third album will be called “÷” when he tweeted the symbol Thursday. It’s a repeating theme for Sheeran, his 2011 debut was titled “+” and sophomore album was titled “x.” A release date for the album has yet to be announced.
